Being the first member of your family to attend college can be tough. Here are some links that will provide the information to make your transition easier.
First in the Family (www.firstinthefamily.org) provides information for high school students who are planning to be the first members of their family to go to college, and for these first-generation college students once they actually arrive at college. Its goal is to help these students get into college and to make their transitions easier.
First Generation College Bound (FGCB) is a grassroots organization based in Prince George’s County, Maryland, whose mission is to increase the participation of low- and moderate-income youth in higher education, particularly those whose parents do not have a bachelor’s degree.
College Center (CSO) is an initiative of Center for Student Opportunity, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to promote college access and opportunity among first-generation and historically undeserved student populations.
